Chloramine-T 2 lb.
Item #ChlorT

Chloramine-T 2 lb.

Chloramine-T is an excellent choice for bacterial gill disease treatment and control and elimination of body fungi and bacterial infections. It has some effect on Flukes in clean water conditions such as hospital tanks and quarantine tanks. Safe when dosed correctly. Biofiltration MUST be bypassed during dosing. For ornamental pond use ONLY, can not be used on food fish.

VERY IMPORTANT:

A.  You must bypass your bio-filter during treatments.

B.  Remove any activated carbon from filtration system.

C. Make sure you know the amount of gallons in your pond.

D. Stop use if you see your fish showing stress such as "pinking up" meaning they are starting to show signs of burning skin.

E. Know the pH of your pond water.

Chloramine -T forms a hydrochloric acid solution in the pond which will kill harmful bacteria, yet when dosed correctly, will not harm the fish.  Chloramine-T has also been shown effective against flukes in water that is low in dissolved organics.  The cleaner your water is the more effective Chloramine-T will be.

Chloramine-T is very sensitive to the amount of carbonates and minerals in the water.  If you have "hard" water you will need to use more Chloramine-T. Below is a basic guide to dosing rates based on water hardness and pH:

Dosing Rate:

5ppm - Very soft water or very weak fish

10ppm - Soft water and/or low pH

15ppm - Moderately hard water and/or moderate pH

20ppm - Hard water containing a pH > 8.0

25ppm - Very hard water and/or a pH > 8.8 and high organics

Dosing example for a 1,000 gallon pond:

Using the "Moderate" level for hard water and/or pH we would select the dosing rate of 15ppm.  One milligram per liter is 1ppm.  1,000 gallons of water is equal to 3,890 liters.  We want 15 milligrams (of Chloramine-T) per liter to achieve 15ppm.  So for a 1,000 gallon pond we need 58,350 milligrams of Chloramine-T.  That is approx.  58 grams.  There is approx. 10 grams of Chloramine-T per tablespoon.  So we need approx. 6 tablespoons of Chloramine-T to treat 1,000 gallons of pond water at the rate of 15ppm.

Treat daily for three days then every other day until you see improvement i the fish.  Once the firsh start eating again, stop treatment. Water changes between treatments are not necessary.  You do not need to turn off UV light.  Works in any temp.
